Hibernation: the condition or a period for an animal or a plantspending the winter in a dormant state.

  • Some organisms are gifted with controlling their own body temperatures and metabolism and hence it is possible for them to hibernate. Snails are one of such creatures.
  • Snails carry their homes (shells) along with them all the time.

FOR HOW LONG CAN SNAIL HIBERNATE?

Snails can sleep for 3 years continuously while in the state of hibernation.

HOW DO SNAILS HIBERNATE?

  • Snails first choose a suitablelocation either under the soil or amongst the grass where the moisture cannot penetrate in the shell
  • The snail then seals the shelf with the mucus and eventually enter the hibernation state
